What is AI-assisted here

Recipe settings, names and sources in Film Recipe Gallery are not AI-generated — they come from the source you import them from, or from what you enter yourself. The only place an AI model is involved in your recipes is the optional screenshot and web page reading described below, and only if you ask for it. Some site copy (e.g. feature descriptions, this policy) may be drafted with AI assistance and is human-reviewed before publishing.

How screenshot import works

  1. On-device reading first. Your screenshot is first read by text-recognition software running on your own device: Google ML Kit's on-device text recognition in the Android app, and Tesseract (an open-source text-recognition engine served from our own website) inside your browser on this website. At this step the image is processed locally and is not uploaded.
  2. AI reading only with your permission. If on-device reading has trouble (for example, a setting couldn't be read), or your browser can't run it, we ask whether you want to improve the result with AI. Only if you choose "Yes" do we send a copy of the screenshot — re-encoded as a JPEG and reduced to at most 2048 pixels on its longest side — and, in the app, the caption text of a social-media post you shared into it. It travels over an encrypted connection to our server function (hosted by Supabase), which only accepts requests from signed-in users and forwards it to Google's Gemini API, with instructions to return nothing but recipe setting values.
  3. What happens to the result. The reply is filtered to known setting names and allowed values, merged with whatever was read on your device, and shown to you for review. It is only saved if you save the recipe. In the app, recipes read this way are labeled "(AI)" as their source.

How web page import works

  1. Ordinary reading first. When you import a recipe from a link, our server (on this website) or your phone (in the app) downloads the page and reads the recipe settings with ordinary text parsing. No AI is involved at this step.
  2. AI reading only with your permission. If the recipe on the page couldn't be read that way, we ask whether you want to read it with AI. Only if you choose "Yes" do we send an excerpt of the page's text — at most 6,000 characters of the article, no images — over an encrypted connection to the same server function (hosted by Supabase), which only accepts requests from signed-in users and forwards it to Google's Gemini API, with instructions to return nothing but recipe setting values.
  3. What happens to the result. Same as for screenshots: the reply is filtered to known setting names and allowed values, merged with whatever the page parser read, and shown to you for review. It is only saved if you save the recipe. In the app, recipes read this way are labeled "(AI)" as their source.

What we keep, and what Google receives

  • We do not store the screenshot, caption or page text you send for AI reading. We only record how many AI readings your account used each day (screenshots and web pages share the same daily limit), to enforce that limit; that count is deleted with your account.
  • Google processes the image or text as our service provider under the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service. We use Google's paid Gemini API service, under which Google does not use submitted content to improve its products; Google may keep it for a limited period solely to detect abuse and meet legal obligations, as described in those terms.
  • "Smart recipe detection" is not AI: it reads the recipe settings your Fujifilm camera stored in the photo's metadata, entirely on your device. On this website the photo is never uploaded.

Accuracy

Both on-device text recognition and AI can misread a screenshot or a web page. Always check every setting before saving a recipe or sending it to your camera — you remain responsible for what you save.

What we don't do

  • We never send a screenshot or page text to an AI service without asking you first.
  • We do not use your screenshots, photos or page text to train any AI model, and we don't allow our AI provider to do so.
  • We do not generate fake recipes or fabricate a source/creator credit.
  • We do not claim an automated "proof of AI" provenance guarantee we can't back with a disclosed process.
