FAQ - How to use?
Short answers about every feature. Steps that mention tapping describe the Android app; recipes, Libraries and Gallery are also available on this website after you sign in.
Recipes
How do I add a recipe?
Share to the app an unedited photo JPEG, and the app detects its settings automatically. Alternatively, you can also read your camera's C1–C7 slots, read a screenshot, take a photo of the settings, import from a website, or type it in with Manual Input.
What's the difference between Favorites and Want-to-tries?
They are both containers you decide where your recipes belong to. Favorites are the recipes you already use and love; Want-to-tries are the ones you plan to test. Switch between them with the toggle buttons (heart or bookmark buttons).
How do categories and filters work?
Add categories to your recipes. The filter button lets you search by category or by film simulation. Long-press a category in the filter to delete it from the app.
What happens when I remove a recipe?
It moves to Inactive, where it's kept, but hidden. Turn on Inactive Recipes in the filter to see them. Move one back to Favorites or Want-to-tries to restore it, or delete it there for good.
Is there a limit on recipes?
Free accounts can keep up to 15 recipes (Inactive ones included) and 3 Libraries. PLUS removes both limits. If recipes added offline (or on another device) take a free account past the limit, the newest ones are discarded when the app syncs.
Libraries
What is a Library?
A set of up to seven recipes, ready to be sent to your camera's C1–C7 slots. Create one in the Libraries tab, then add recipes to its slots.
Camera
How do I send a recipe to my camera?
Open the recipe and tap Send to Camera, choose USB or Wi-Fi, follow the connection steps, then pick the C1–C7 slot to write it to.
Which cameras are supported?
USB recipe reading/writing has been tested with X-Trans IV and V cameras. Compatibility and results vary by model and firmware; successful writes are not guaranteed.
Gallery
How do I add photos to Gallery?
You can share photos to Film Recipe Gallery from any app. Alternatively, in the Gallery tab, tap Photos and Albums at the top, then Add Photos, and import them from your phone or from your camera (USB or Wi-Fi).
How does Gallery know which recipe a photo used?
Straight-out-of-camera JPEGs store their settings, so photos that match a saved recipe are grouped under it. Open a photo to see its settings, or save them as a new recipe.
Account
Why should I create an account?
Your recipes, Libraries and categories sync across your devices and the website, and your photos can be backed up. Without an account, everything stays on this device.
